Lots of racing this weekend, from half marathon to 100 mile(!) distances, and some great results for Cornish runners. The Mud Crew team are having an excellent season in seemingly all off-road events, and continued this trend with Izzy Wykes first lady at the Hartland Hartbreaker, Sarah Burns-Morwood first lady in the Thames Path 100 in 19:57, and Sharon Daw second lady in the Endurancelife Pembrokeshire CTS Marathon in 4:40:39!

In road running, Tamar Trotters hosted the Saltash Half Marathon, where 175 runners turned out to see David Beckenrager (Plymouth Harriers) improve on his fifth place in 2013 to win the race in 1:23:03. Just behind was East Cornwall Harrier Oliver Jones, who finished second in 1:23:32. First Cornish runner home in the ladies event was Sally Myatt from the host club, who finished behind Naomi Flanagan (South Devon AC) and Alicia Regan (Plymouth Harriers) to complete the podium in 1:45:41.

For a slightly tougher challenge, runners travelled to Killerton in Devon for the off-road Killerton Half Marathon. Mark Dorrell (Carn Runners) finished third in 1:39:02 behind Milan Goc (Sidmouth RC) and Adam Stobbs (Exeter Harriers), comfortably winning his age group in the process. We couldn’t see any Cornish runners in the ladies half of the race, which was won by Caroline Hewitt of Tiverton in 1:50:58. Do let us know if we missed you!

The final race of the weekend was today’s marathon in Milton Keynes, where Newquay Road Runner Alex Daniels took second place with a fantastic 2:46:24, a three minute PB.

Great running all round!

Everyone now seems to be gearing up for the next GP race, the ten mile mixed terrain race at Trevornick (info here), and with an eye on the Imerys Trail Marathon the following weekend (info here). There is the Helston Triathlon to look forward to, and before we know it the Endurancelife Classic Quarter will be upon us!
