Trevornick 10

Attention turned back to the Cornwall GP today, as just shy of 300 runners braved gale force winds and squally showers to run the tough off-road ten miler at Trevornick today. In the 6th running of the event, Mile High runner Tony Brewer improved from third place last year to win his first GP event of the year, finishing just over the hour in 1:00:31, excellent in the conditions. Just 18 seconds behind, and solidifying his position at the top of the Grand Prix rankings after five events was Justin Thomas (CAC), with Ceri Whitmore (CAC) taking his first GP podium with 1:02:31 to finish third.

In the absence of Emma Stepto in the ladies race (see below), it was an open field, with a completely different podium from last year. First home was Zelah Morrall (CAC) in 1:09:20, with Emma Schuck (Hayle) in second, and Eleanor Davis (Newquay) in third. Out of the four GP events she has competed in this year, Davis has finished on the podium in every one, which will make her hard to beat in the overall standings.

Cornwall AC won both team events, with host team Newquay taking third place in both. For the men, Mile High completed the podium with second place, with Hayle ladies also taking second.

Ivybridge 10K

Over 650 took part in the Ivybridge 10K yesterday, with several runners from Cornwall making the trip. First finisher among them was Paul Gregg (Tamar Trotters), finishing just outside the top ten in 37:17. Revis Crowle of East Cornwall Harriers looks to have been first Cornwall lady home in 42:01, with club mate Jenny Nash not far behind in 42:18. Full results can be found at the link below.

Bristol 10K

Emma Stepto (CAC) took second place in a tough 10K in Bristol today, finishing in 34:17, just three seconds behind Rebecca Robinson. This was her best 10K performance of the year so far, and not far off her PB, in wet and windy conditions. A full race report on the Run Bristol site can be found here.
