Miranda Heathcote shines at Home Countries International (Cross Country)

Congratulations to Miranda Heathcote (Newquay & Par AC) who finished second in the Home Countries International Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, on Saturday. Finishing second to Catherine Blew, she led the England team to victory, completing the 8k course in 28:27. Race Preview: THE DARK (Sat. 22nd March, 7.30pm, Cardinham Woods)

This weekend’s main event is the long awaited Mud Crew offering, The Dark, at Cardinham Woods on Saturday. Three hundred runners will compete over two laps of the ‘Bodmin Beast’ mountain bike trail in the dark, with a total prize purse of £500 at stake. The course is technical and steep in parts, with sections labelled ‘Breakneck’ and ‘Switchblade’ on the official trail guide giving some idea of the terrain. Weekend round-up : 15/16 MAR

Running The Falmouth Half Marathon was the highlight of the weekend, with over 400 runners taking part on the hilly course. Perfect conditions helped produce several PB’s, but at the front of the pack the race was between two runners. Weekend round-up : 8/9 MAR

The main event of note this weekend was the understandably oversubscribed mudfest Grizzly 2014, in Seaton, which seemed to draw most Cornish runners not worrying about twisting an ankle before their big spring marathon! It was the first big weekend of road racing this week, with the Reading and Bath Half Marathons attracting big fields. Nearer to home, the Bideford Half Marathon drew many Cornish runners looking to test their race legs before the big spring marathons. Weekend round-up : 22/23 FEB (updated)

It was definitely a weekend for runners comfortable on trails, with lots of muddy running to be had around Lanhydrock, and further afield. Some intrepid runners even got as far as the New Forest to represent the county, with Mud Crew runners having some very successful outings. Marazion 10k Results Round-up

A surprise break in the weather provided clear skies for this year’s Marazion 10k. The wind made things tough at the front of the pack, but there were PB’s all round further down the field.
