Miranda Heathcote shines at Home Countries International (Cross Country)

Congratulations to Miranda Heathcote (Newquay & Par AC) who finished second in the Home Countries International Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, on Saturday. Finishing second to Catherine Blew, she led the England team to victory, completing the 8k course in 28:27. This was Miranda’s first selection to run for England in over ten years as a Senior lady, though she has run as a veteran.

Miranda celebrates second at the Southern Champs

Miranda’s achievement follows a spell of fine form, with a second place at the Southern Cross Country Championships in January, and 6th at the English National Cross Country Championships last month. Miranda finished just 43 seconds behind the current ladies European Cross Country Champion Gemma Steel. Her performance in that race has been described as one of the best ever by a veteran athlete; the five finishing ahead of her all being at least 10 years her junior.
