Tony Brewer (Mile High) continued his impressive start to the GP season with his second win of the year, at the Marazion 10k. The warnings of snow were thankfully way off, and the sun appeared, almost making the 498 runners forget the 20mph winds, at least until the final hill! Last year’s winner, Peter Le Grice (Mounts Bay Harriers) led much of the race, but was excellently paced by Brewer, who came through towards the end. He held on up the 300m ‘kicker’ of a hill to cement a 32:34 finish, just under Le Grice’s time from last year and a 10k PB. Cornwall AC‘s Colin Snook took the remaining podium spot in a tight battle for third.
In the absence of last year’s winner, Emma Stepto, it was left to Newquay’s Eleanor Davis and Hayle’s Emma Schuck to battle it out in the ladies race. In the end it was to be Davis’ day, as she finished 37 seconds ahead of Schuck, to win in 35:59, a 43 second PB. Emma Schuck’s 36:36 finish was also a PB, remarkable in the blustery conditions. Cornwall AC‘s Donna Raggett improved on fourth at Storm Force to take third place today.
