Dan Rodgers (Launceston RR) underlined his short course form by winning the well subscribed five miler at Cubert on Tuesday, with a personal best time of 25:20, almost dipping under 5:00/mile pace. Having just won the County 5K track title, he opened a small gap over the tight bunch competing for second. Dan Alsop (St Austell RC), Mike Birchmore (Newquay RR) and Colin Snook (Cornwall AC) were left to fight it out for second, with Snook eventually missing out on a podium spot by just two seconds.

In the ladies race, Emma Stepto (Cornwall AC), in her third GP race of the year, won in 27:52, ahead of younger rivals Eleanor Davis (Newquay RR) and Emma Schuck (Hayle Runners). Emma Stepto had just returned from finishing seventh female in the Bristol 10K in a time of 34:53, the fourth fastest ever for a V45 in the UK. Her time at Cubert was the second fastest V45 five mile time ever in the UK and only three seconds off being the fastest ever, remarkable in the conditions.
